Overview

The Canine Grooming program has been designed to get you ready to succeed in the ever growing industry of dog grooming. You will obtain in-depth knowledge of all the proper salon grooms, and will be shown how to do each one from start to finish. We will go over all tools and equipment needed and when to use each. You will learn in a high-end salon with some of the newest and best equipment available on the market to date.

Outline

  • 256 hours of hands on and theory instruction 

  • Introduction of tools used in grooming: combs, brushes, scissors, clippers and guard combs.

  • Shampoos and conditioners

  • Styling, de-matting, combing and brushing out properly.

  • Bathing procedures for different coat types Drying procedures and uses of different dryers.

  • Canine first aid course, with certificate upon completion.

  • Veterinarian visit

  • Proper salon grooms: Teddy bear, Kennel cut, Lamb legs, 

  • Breed cuts: Schnauzer, Yorkshire terrier, West highland terrier, Poodles and Cocker Spaniels 

  • Bath and tidy on all sizes of dogs/ lengths of hair

  • 3 types of grooming tables - You will learn the pros & cons of each.

  • 3 types of dryers - you will learn their uses and when and when not to use them

    • Stationary and portable high velocity dryers, 

    • Kennel dryer 

    • Portable stand dryer

  • You will also learn how to use the Sav-ur-fur bathing system, which releases fur from the pressure during the bathing process.
